The Chesapeake and Potomac Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (CAPSITE), in partnership with ITS Virginia, the City of Alexandria, and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI), is pleased to invite you to the 2026 CAPSITE Technical Meeting in Alexandria, Virginia for a discussion on the future of smart mobility and transportation safety. 

At this event, we will explore how the City of Alexandria is building the foundation for a smarter, safer, and more connected transportation network through its Smart Mobility program and evolving Vision Zero 2.0 approach. We’ll discuss how emerging technologies and real-time data can support proactive safety strategies, how the “digital curb” is shaping the future of curb management and street operations, and what cities can do today to prepare for the next generation of mobility. The conversation will also dive into the practical side of innovation — including funding strategies, public-private partnerships, procurement challenges, and lessons learned from implementing smart mobility initiatives in a local government environment.

Whether you work in transportation planning, engineering, technology, operations, or policy, this session will provide real-world insights into how agencies can move from vision to implementation while preparing communities for the future of mobility.
